Jackson Hole Weddings & Elopements
The Tetons rise 7,000 feet straight out of the valley floor — the most dramatic vertical in the American West. Grand Teton National Park is one of the finest backdrops on earth for an elopement or intimate wedding.
Why Jackson Hole
Grand Tetons. Snake River. No Crowds.
Jackson Hole is unlike any other wedding destination in the country. The Teton Range rises 7,000 feet directly from the valley floor with no foothills — you don't ease into the mountains here, you're simply surrounded by them. For couples who want that jaw-dropping vertical in every frame, there's no place on earth quite like it.
I've been shooting weddings and elopements in the Tetons for years, which means I know where the light hits best in the morning, which trails are permit-free, which spots are genuinely private, and how to work around the seasonal crowds at the most popular pullouts. The Snake River Overlook, Schwabacher Landing, the String Lake area, Mormon Row — each has its own character and its own best time of day.
Whether you're planning a full wedding at one of the resort properties or a sunrise elopement with just the two of you and the Tetons, I know how to make this landscape work for your day.

Best Places to Get Married in Jackson Hole
The venues and ceremony sites I've shot at most often, and why each one is worth considering for your day.
Snake River Overlook
Ansel Adams made this view famous. The sweeping S-curve of the Snake River with the Tetons behind it is one of the most photographically perfect setups in the American West. Best at sunrise or sunset.
Schwabacher Landing
Calm water reflecting the Tetons in the early morning. One of the best sunrise elopement spots in the park — serene, accessible by car, and often empty before 7am.
String Lake
Clear alpine water with direct views of the Cathedral Group — Teewinot, Grand Teton, and Mount Owen. Flat trail access, great for couples who want a backcountry feel without a strenuous hike.
Mormon Row
Historic homestead barns with unobstructed Teton views. Iconic, graphic, and beautiful in golden hour. No permit required for small ceremonies. One of the most versatile spots in the valley.
Jenny Lake
The most popular spot in the park for a reason — dramatic peaks, clear water, and multiple ceremony site options. Permit required. Accessible by a short hike or boat shuttle.
Amangani & Shooting Star
Two of the finest resort wedding venues in the West. Amangani perches on East Gros Ventre Butte with panoramic Teton views. Shooting Star is an exclusive golf club with incredible mountain settings.
Four Seasons Jackson Hole
Ski-in/ski-out luxury at Teton Village. Full-service wedding venue with mountain views, multiple ceremony locations, and top-tier catering. Ideal for full weddings with 50-200 guests.
Lost Creek Ranch
An all-inclusive guest ranch in the Gros Ventre Wilderness. Intimate, private, and completely off the beaten path. Wedding buyout allows you to host your entire party on-site.

Summer
June – August
Peak season. All park roads open, wildflowers in bloom, and long golden-hour windows. Popular locations like Jenny Lake get crowded midday — early morning ceremonies avoid the crowds entirely.
Fall
September – October
My favorite season in the Tetons. Aspen groves turn brilliant gold, crowds thin dramatically, and the light is extraordinary. Wildlife (elk, bison, moose) is highly active. Peak golden hour photography.
Winter
November – March
Snow-covered valleys, frozen lakes, and the Tetons at their most dramatic. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is in full swing. Fewer visitors means real solitude at the best overlooks.
Spring
April – May
Variable weather but stunning light. Snow lingers on the peaks while the valley begins greening. Some park roads still closed in April. Excellent for couples who want dramatic snow-capped Tetons.
Permits & Logistics
Getting Married in Jackson Hole: What You Need to Know
Grand Teton National Park requires a Special Use Permit for wedding ceremonies within park boundaries. Permits must be applied for through the park's permit office and are issued for specific locations and dates. Popular spots like Jenny Lake often require reservations months in advance. Ceremonies outside park boundaries (at ranches, resorts, or on public land administered by the National Forest) have different permit requirements. I help all Jackson Hole couples understand exactly which permits are needed for their chosen location and assist with the application process.
Common Questions
Jackson Hole Wedding & Elopement FAQ
How much does a Jackson Hole elopement photographer cost?
+
Jackson Hole elopement packages start at $4,995 for 4 hours of coverage. Full-day wedding packages start at $5,995 for 6 hours. Multi-day and destination coverage is available from $7,500+. All packages include planning consultation, location scouting recommendations, color-enhanced digital files, and an online gallery.
Do I need a permit to elope in Grand Teton National Park?
+
Yes. Grand Teton National Park requires a Special Use Permit for wedding ceremonies within the park. Permits are location-specific and date-specific, and some popular locations have limited availability. Many couples choose to have their ceremony just outside park boundaries on National Forest land, which has fewer restrictions. I'll help you navigate the permit process for whichever location you choose.
What's the best time of year for a Jackson Hole elopement?
+
Late September through mid-October is the most spectacular — aspen groves are gold, crowds are gone, and the light is phenomenal. Mid-June through August gives you the most reliable weather and the most access. Winter (December-February) offers a completely different experience: snow-covered valleys, frozen lakes, and the Tetons at their most dramatic against a clear blue sky.
Can we see wildlife during our elopement?
+
Almost certainly, especially in fall. Bison herds are commonly spotted along the main roads and meadows. Elk are extremely active in September and October. Moose are regularly seen near water. I'm always watching for wildlife opportunities during portrait sessions — some of the most memorable images I've made in Jackson Hole have included bison in the background.
Is Jackson Hole accessible for non-hiking elopements?
+
Absolutely. Some of the best ceremony spots in the valley — Snake River Overlook, Schwabacher Landing, Mormon Row, Oxbow Bend — are accessible by car with no hiking required. For couples who want more adventure, hikes to places like Cascade Canyon, Lake Solitude, or Paintbrush Canyon are available and absolutely worth it.
