Mid-mountain, accessed only by chairlift or gondola, with a rustic ranch-style log building and outdoor ceremony meadow. This is the most atmospheric venue on the resort. Guests arrive via a 10-minute scenic lift ride, which makes the arrival itself part of the experience. Ceremony happens outdoors with the San Juans as a backdrop, reception moves inside the historic ranch building. Ideal guest count: 50-150.
San Sophia Overlook
A short gondola ride from Mountain Village. The ceremony site sits on a ridge with a straight-down-the-canyon view of Telluride town 2,000 feet below. It's free to use (no venue fee beyond the gondola access), which makes it ideal for elopements and micro-weddings. Best for couples with fewer than 30 guests.
Allred's Restaurant
A full restaurant at 10,500 feet with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on the entire San Juan range. Indoor/outdoor ceremony options plus a full dining room for reception. My top pick for couples who want a mid-mountain experience with weather contingency built in.
Alpino Vino
The highest fine dining restaurant in North America at 11,966 feet. Small, intimate, and extraordinary. Capacity is around 30-40 guests max. For couples who want an unforgettable dinner experience with their ceremony, this is the place. Requires skis or a snowcat to access in winter.
Base Village
For larger weddings with guests who don't want to ride lifts, the base village offers multiple reception venues and ceremony options at 9,500 feet. Easier guest logistics, but less dramatic than mid-mountain ceremony sites.
What About Winter Weddings at Telluride Ski Resort?
Winter weddings at Telluride Ski Resort are a completely different experience and I love shooting them. The mountain is in full ski mode, the village is decorated for the holidays, and the light off the fresh snow is unlike anything else. My favorite winter ceremony weeks are early to mid-December (after the resort opens but before the Christmas crowds) and late January through February (powder season, fewer holiday travelers).
Winter ceremonies happen in smaller windows because of daylight, but that's often a good thing — the golden hour hits earlier and the dramatic alpenglow on the San Juans at 4 PM in January is unbelievable.
